As a partner with The Markham Group, Wilder brings a unique combination of campaign, policy, research and logistical experience to the firm. He served as Legislative Director for Florida Governor Lawton Chiles, Chief of Staff to Florida’s Lt. Governor, Caucus Director for the Florida Senate Democratic Caucus and a political/legislative specialist for the Florida affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers. A veteran of statewide campaigns and statehouse political battles, Wilder most recently served as Chief of Staff in the Broward County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office – one of the largest and most progressive law enforcement agencies in the United States.
In 2006 Wilder was Political Director for the Florida gubernatorial campaign of State Senator Rod Smith, directing field, advance, endorsement, GOTV, absentee and early vote operations for a candidate who started his long-shot campaign at 4% in the polls yet nearly defeated the better funded ‘establishment’ candidate a year later in the Democratic primary.
In 1994 he was the Florida Governor’s lead advance for the Summit of the Americas held in Miami, Florida. The Summit featured all 33 democratically elected heads of state in the Western Hemisphere. At the time it was the first hemispheric summit hosted by the United States, the largest summit ever held in the United States, and the largest gathering of Western Hemisphere leaders in history.
Wilder is a Florida native and received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Florida State University.
