Since 1995, Robert McLarty has played an important role on almost all levels of local, statewide and national political campaigns. Working as a campaign consultant for President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Senator Bob Graham, Senator Hillary Clinton and retired General Wesley Clark, McLarty has been involved at all levels of campaign management during some of the nation’s most memorable campaigns.
McLarty was the National Advance Director for Clark 04, where he formulated and implemented an earned media campaign that was successful in receiving millions of dollars in earned media. In addition, McLarty consulted Senator Bob Graham on his announcement strategy, which was later referred by the Associated Press as “the most colorful presidential announcement event of the 2004 season”
In 2002, McLarty served as the Tennessee Political Director for former Vice President Al Gore’s PAC, Leadership ’02, where he directed Gore’s overall Tennessee political and communication strategy during the 2002 primary and general election year. Additionally, McLarty served as Gore’s liaison to all elected officials, party leaders and political organizations across the state.
Currently McLarty is a national political and advance consultant to the Hillary Clinton Presidential where he also directs the campaign’s Arkansas political operations.
McLarty, who is based in Little Rock and anchors The Markham Group’s corporate headquarters, received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Arkansas.
